  • Participated in American Mathematical Society's Mathematics Research Communities 2023 program on Complex Social Systems in Java Center, NY (June 18 - June 24, 2023) - details of our ongoing work can be found on this page

  • Participated in Women in Network Science Collabathon at Northeastern University (May 1 - May 5, 2023)

    • Worked on a group project about topic modeling that extracts a network of keywords in scientific literature (See our Github)

  • Participated in the Fall 2022 Data Science Boot Camp at the Erdős Institute (Fall 2022)

    • Worked on a group project about developing automated feedback tools for English language proficiency evaluation (See our Github)

  • Participated in the May 2022 Data Science Boot Camp at the Erdős Institute (May 9 - June 4, 2022)

  • Mentor for Brown Division of Applied Mathematics - Directed Reading Program (Fall 2021)

    • Designed and supervised an independent project for an undergraduate student on mathematical optimal control theory and applications

  • Mentor at BUMP (Brown Undergraduate Mathematics Projects) (Summer 2020)

    • Guided a team of 3 undergraduate students in a 5-week directed study in experimental mathematics on the topic of graphing fleas

    • Given a preset rule on the flea's motion, the team explored possible patterns of the trajectories on different lattices by running numerical simulations in Python. By the end, they wrote up a report addressing their findings, conjectures, and proofs, and then gave a public presentation to other teams in the program.

  • Translated the German article, Knoten, by Horst Schubert (1968) for my final project in German for Reading class (Summer 2020) See it here!

  • Mentor in the Brown Applied Math Undergraduate/Graduate Mentoring Program (From Fall 2019)

    • The program pairs undergraduates who are interested in studying applied math with graduate students. The goal is to provide undergraduates with an additional advising perspective, particularly as it pertains to academic and career goals. I met and had conversations with my mentee on a regular basis throughout the semesters.

  • Participated in the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Program, Budapest, Hungary in summer 2018 and completed with honors

Service

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University (December 2021 - August 2023)

    • Attended bi-weekly meetings, developed plans and worked on projects with the goal of improving climate and increasing diversity and inclusion in APMA

  • Brown SIAM Student Chapter Executive Board (September 2021 - August 2023)

    • Recorded organizational plans and organized academic and social events for undergrad and graduate students interested in applied math with the goal of fostering an active interdisciplinary STEM community at Brown

  • Sheridan Center Departmental Graduate Student Liaison for Division of Applied Mathematics (August 2021 - August 2023)

    • Maintained communications and forwarded events information between the Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning and the department

  • Member of Math & CS Major’s Committee at Dickinson College (Fall 2016 - Spring 2019)

    • Gave feedback on personnel reviews and provided a student voice in departmental issues

Other Fun Stuff

  • I was a Soprano in Dickinson College Choir and a second violin in Dickinson Orchestra.

  • I love studying languages and particularly like learning about the Japanese language and culture (initially because I'm a Big Anime Fan but now it just becomes an interest of mine on its own!).

    • Passed the JLPT N2 in 2015 and the JLPT N1 in 2016

    • I ran the Japanese Aesthetics Club and worked as a Japanese writing tutor and peer tutor at Dickinson College (Fall 2016 - Spring 2019). Now, I am a Japanese and Mandarin facilitator for language Open Hours at Brown University.

    • Check out the paper I wrote regarding Aizuchi when I studied at International Christian University in Tokyo in summer 2017 and its brief PowerPoint!

  • I was a volunteer at the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Dickinson College.
